Our guided gaslight tours

 

We offer guided tours in a double-decker bus, on bicycles or on foot -- as a pleasant evening stroll. Some tours are conducted in English. Our tours are popular for group or company celebrations and are often booked by foreign and local tourist groups as well as by small groups of individuals. The tours are financed by voluntary contributions from the participants. As a non-profit cultural organization we issue donation receipts which can be used to offset taxes. Gaslight tours in a double-decker bus

 

Nearly half of all the gaslights in the world illuminate the streets of Berlin every night. Like no other type of lighting, the gas streetlighting creates a sense of well-being in large areas of the city. We would like to bring you, on the upper level of a double-decker bus, literally closer to this unique light.

Come with us, starting directly in front of Charlottenburg Castle, for an instructive and entertaining hour. You will hear:

Gaslight tours by bicycle or on foot

 

Some Berlin neighborhoods are impossible to imagine without gaslight. Our tour takes us into the historic Charlottenburg area. We explore some of the loveliest gaslit streets and squares (for bicycle tours participants bring their own bicycles). Learn more about Berlin's "sparkling treasures of the night."

We relate the history and show the different forms of Berlin's gaslights; we explain the high quality of gaslight and the reason it is so environmentally friendly. We will see gas lanterns whose masts are over 100 years old and still completely intact. And you will hear about gaslight ensembles and their unforgettable imprint on the cityscape.

We start from U Sophie-Charlotte-Platz Exit Schloßstraße, Duration about 60 minutes.
